Holmfirth Festival of Folk 2010

GB2HFF - Holmirth Festival of Folk

FAILED DUE TO HEAVY 5/9  QRM

This was a weekend never to remember.

All antennas installed

20m Dipole

Carolina Windom 80

EVX6000 Vertical

Band conditions very bad but the QRM coming from some local 24/7 establishment was out of this world. We could see a Police station and a Swimming baths and the noise was a Hash like switch mode power supply without any filters.... All the bands wiped out on HF. I was calling but unless the signal strength was over 5/9 we could not hear anybody.

GB2HFF is a Special Event station operating from Holmfirth Festival of Folk, Holmfirth, Yorkshire, England, by myself  Andy M0GGR and Chris 2E0XLG.

The event is an annual celebration of traditional music, dance and arts and features live music, dance performances and sessions throughout the town and in the local public houses of Holmfirth over the event weekend.

Our station will be QRV from 6th - 9th May 2010 inclusive and will be operating on an 'as and when' basis depending on conditions. Due to the location, in a camp site at the bottom of a steep valley, we will concentrate mainly on low band NVIS, 160, 80 & 40m. We hope to work as many stations as possible under the given conditions so if you hear us give us a call . . . If we hear you we will reply.

QSL manager for the the event is Chris . . . 2E0XLG . . . Direct qsl only at the moment. Please include return postage, IRC, etc for direct QSL. In other words if you are in the Uk send a Stamp Self Addressed Envalope.

The two photos below are from past Festivals. Watch this space and I may be able to use the Mobile internet and update some photos whilst there.....
